Vivint has come a long way because it presented its doorbell camera in 2015. Like its competition– that includes the likes of Comcast Xfinity, ADT, and even Do It Yourself options like Simplisafe– Vivint deals a full suite of linked clever home security gadgets that work together to safeguard homes against whatever from break-in, to fires, and floods. The distinction, as I’ve experienced first-hand, comes down to the service experience.

Bitten by the smart home security bug, I wanted more. I wanted clever locks, voice control, door sensing units, window sensing units, and video cameras … with night vision. Then Vivint occurred and offered to set up an extensive wise house security system for review with the alternative to either get rid of the system afterward or leave it in place for follow-up reviews as new features and hardware were added down the line.

I’m choosing the latter. Vivint isn’t the most budget friendly clever home security alternative, but their service and app experience are impressive, and through my experience with their system, I have actually discovered both of those aspects are absolutely key.

Vivint outfitted my house with its doorbell camera, one indoor electronic camera, 3 outdoor cams (all with night vision), two Kwikset SmartCode deadbolt locks, 3 door sensors, 10 window sensors, one interior movement sensing unit, two glass-break sensors, 2 smoke detectors, and a flood/heat/cold sensing unit, and a touchscreen control panel.
If that seems like a lot, I handed down 4 window sensing units for the second flooring, a wise thermostat (Vivint makes its own, and Nest is an alternative), a smart garage door opener module, and any of Vivint’s clever lighting solutions, which include lamp modules and compatibility with Philips Color clever bulbs. The point here is that Vivint systems are created to provide clever home convenience along with security, and systems can be scaled from modest to nearly obscenely fancy.
